Introduction- FOOD FORESts
Living in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, you are familiar with the forests that surround us and grow through our city. There are those big huge Douglas Fir and Cedar trees, as well as the Arbutus trees that lean over us. Our forest floors are covered in Sword Ferns, Salal, and Oregon Grape. Teeming with life, our natural forests are filled with biodiversity. Trees and plants intertwine to fill every possible space allowing these forests exist on their own. There’s no mowing, no weeding, no spraying, or digging required. No pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides or nasty chemicals.
Now, imagine if everything in these lush, abundant, spectacular forests produced food!
